Another one of my all-time favorite places that I traveled to during my time in Europe was Ireland's capital city, Dublin. I really can't recommend a trip to Dublin enough, and would love to go back there later in my life. Out of all the places I've gotten the chance to travel to, I can say that this city has the most friendly and welcoming locals without a doubt. The lively nightlife, the culture, architecture, and food is absolutely incredible in Dublin and is so unique compared to other European cities that I've visited. Here's some of my favorite places / things to do while in this city:
- TEMPLE BAR -
When my family and I visited Dublin, we stayed at an Air BNB in the iconic, busy neighborhood of Temple Bar right next to the river. Here you'll find tons of pubs with constant live music, boutiques, art galleries, cafes, ice cream shops, and so much more. This area is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the city and you're constantly surrounded by the nicest and most fun people. There is so much to do and see in this one area of Dublin, that my family and I really did not go outside of the neighborhood too often.
-CLIFFS OF MOHER-
If you ever want to spent more relaxing time outside of the city, I 100% recommend taking a day to visit the Cliffs of Moher. This is the most famous natural landmark in all of Ireland, and had such a breathtaking view. These are located on the opposite side of Ireland from Dublin at the southewestern edge of the Burren region of County Clare, although it only takes about 3 hours by car to get there. The cliffs reach a maximum height of 702 feet and run for about 9 miles along the Atlantic coastline. Another advantage of taking a trip out here from Dublin is that you get to pass through the amazing city of Galway.
-TRINITY COLLEGE-
Another thing that my family did here in Dublin was explore Trinity College. This is Ireland's highest ranked university and has a beautiful campus in the heart of the city at College Green. It was very interesting to be able to see the differences in univiersities in the United States to ones in Europe. The architecture and historic buildings were so fascinating and it was a nice and relaxing place to take a break from walking around the downtown area.
