"If European Cities Were A Necklace, Prague Would Be A Diamond Among The Pearls" - Anonymous
Prague, the capital city of Czech Republic, is one of the most unique and charming cities that I've gotten the chance to travel to. It is one of Europe's best preserved cities and still has it's historic charm to it. The city is bisected by the Vltava River, and has beautiful bridges, the most famous one being the Charles Bridge. Prague remains practically untouched by the wars in the previous centuries, and has been able to withhold it's momentous buildings, cathedrals, and castles, for thousands of years. The fascinating architecure in this city mainly represents a mix between the Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque era.
Something that I really enjoyed about Prague was how easy it was to communicate with the locals there. The Czech language is extremely difficult; people even say that if you aren't born and raised in the Czech Republic than it is practically impossible to learn the language. With this being said, almost every single person there speaks English very well (locals learn it as soon as they start school) and everything in businesses (signs, menus, etc.) are in English too. With the few days we spent in Prague, we did not have any difficulty communicating with anyone.
One of my favorite places we went while in Prague was Old Town Square, where we wen to the top of the Old Town Hall and saw the famous Astronomical Clock, ate great food, went shopping, and much more. My family and I also enjoyed an Old Car tour, visiting the Prague Castle, the Apple Museum, going to the Dancing House, and all of the various shops. There is so much to do for any type of traveler and it's definitely a place that you should add to your bucketlist!
I've never been to Prague but reading your post really makes me want to book a trip! I really love the quote that you included at the beginning of your post, it really caught my attention! It sounds like there are some amazing places to visit there, especially the dancing house.
Wow Morgan! I have always wanted to go to Europe because of all the beautiful cities. Prague, Czech Republic looks definitely looks like one of the prettiest. I find it very interesting that many people there speak english. If ever had the opportunity to go to Prague, I would love to visit the cathedrals.
